The Nova Carthaginian Empire is a nation in Northern Africa alongside the Mediterranean Sea at the mouth of the Algierian Bay. The Empire is an Oligarchical Republic with two Judges elected by powerful families within the Empire. The Empires origins are suspect, but legends tell the story of a powerful princess who lead people to what would be called the Nova Carthaginian Empire. This legend has grown into a religion called Didom that is a hybrid of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Mythology.

Politics[edit | edit source]

The Nova Carthaginian Empire is an Oligarchical Republic with a series of councils that range all the way from local town councils to the High Council that elects the two Judges of the land.

The two Judges are a Judge of the Interior and a Judge of the Exterior.

The Judge of the Interior focuses on things like Infrastructure, Industry, Agriculture, and Welfare, while the Judge of the Exterior focuses on things like Diplomacy, Trade, and War.

They are elected by a simple majority in the High Council which is made up of influential, land-owning citizens like bankers, bureaucrats, and religious leaders. In this council, there are five leaders who control different aspects of the nation. The Sword of the High Council specializes in all things related to war. The Pen of the High Council specializes in all things related to diplomacy. The Heart of the High Council specializes in all things related to the welfare of the people. The Hands of the High Council specializes in all things related to production of goods and services in the Empire. The Head of the High Council specializes in running the government.

Religion[edit | edit source]

Didom is the official religion of the Nova Carthaginian Empire. The Queen of Heaven or Queen Elissa is a second messiah after the Judaic tradition. She lead the founders of Carthage through the Great Darkness and founded the city of Nova Carthage. To many Christians, Muslims, and Jews she is a child of Yahweh and will come back during the Final Darkness at the end of days.

The Church of Didom is based on the same format of the Catholic Church. A series of priests, bishops, and high priests make up a hierarchy of large parishes and smaller parishes.
