The People's Republic of Japan (Japanese (Hiragana): にほんじんみん きょうわ-こく) is a country in Eastern Asia. Founded in 1948 in the aftermath of Operation Downfall, the People's Republic of Japan has fought a multi-decade civil war against multiple Japanese factions.

History[edit | edit source]

Operation Downfall and the Cherry Blossom Society (1945-1946)[edit | edit source]

Toshiyuki Matsushita founded the Cherry Blossom Society during Operation Downfall while serving in the Imperial Japanese Army. Matsushita formed the organization as a group of pro-Socialist Japanese soldiers opposed to the war in China and the rest of Asia, while supporting the war against the United States. The Cherry Blossom Society declared that Japan should immediately retreat from all of the areas it has occupied, and ally with the Soviet Union to destroy the United States.

Anti-Barbarian Army (1946-1948)[edit | edit source]

Declaration of the People's Republic and Phase Two of the Civil War (1948-1953)[edit | edit source]

Foreign Relations[edit | edit source]

Government and Politics[edit | edit source]

The People's Republic of Japan is a de facto one party state, with the Communist Party of Japan being the dominant party within the country's politics. In elections, candidates do not have to run on a CPJ list, and can run as independents. This has seen the creation of unorganized coalitions of independent candidates, but no creation of other political parties.
